Data Acquisition For Disaster Management and Planning
FLOODPLAIN MAPPING
Accurate floodplain maps are the key to better floodplain management.Early identification of flood-prone properties during emergencies allows public safety organizations to establish warning and evacuation priorities.
Our solution helps in acquiring:

- Topographic Data: stream channel cross-sections &reach lengths
- Obstructions Data: bridge & culvert cross-sections
- Hydrologic Data: discharge rates for the storm(s) of interest
By overlaying or intersecting different geographical layers, flood prone areas can be identified and targeted for mitigation or stricter floodplain management practices.
EARTHQUAKE DATA PLANNING
Earthquake management can be examined in four phases: Mitigation, Preparedness, Response & Recovery.
BUILDING TYPOLOGY USING REMOTE SENSING & AERIAL IMAGERY
- Remote detection & ground based detection
- Building Typology
- Hazard, Vulnerability, Risk for Buildings

POST-EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE ASSESSMENT USING REMOTE SENSING & AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY DATA
AVALANCHE MAPPING
Albireos advanced Data Acquisition technology has made it affordable and reasonable to add spatial component to avalanche and snow pit data by building avalanche maps for predicting and forecasting avalanche hazard by:
- Airborne LiDAR and Digital Photogrammetric Survey of parts of snow covered mountains for Generation of high resolution digital terrain model and land snow cover maps.
- Digital Database generation at higher resolution for identification of Avalanche prone area using higher scale Maps.
- 3D visualization Application Software and Terrain Database Generation
The base data layers such as Digital topo maps and Aerial Photography provide visual information and the ability to identify avalanche terrain.
These help in referencing the topography of the avalanche areas.
The Digital Elevation Model (DEM) allows various terrain analysis such as maximum-minimum slope, curvature etc. When the avalanche path data is overlaid over DEM, it is analyzed using the nearest neighbor model. This data is more readily available and at a high resolution and accuracy.
Other data layers acquired are the hydrographic, vegetation, geology, building and roads. All such data helps in predicting the size of the avalanche and the areas that might suffer destruction.
SNOW & GLACIER MAPPING
Albireo has a good experience in airborne survey for the snow bound rugged mountainous terrain using LiDAR and Large Format Digital Aerial Photography. Moreover, we develop algorithms for semi-automatic identification of avalanche formation zones and to find safe routes during winter using satellite imagery.
