Aerial And LiDAR Data Processing

aerial lidarThe use of airborne Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) technology offers rapid high resolution capture of surface elevation data suitable for a large range of applications.

Albireo uses its in house capabilities for generating DEM (Digital Elevation Model), TIN (Triangulated Inverse Network), DTM (Digital Terrain Model) and many other surface models. Our LiDAR systems or technologies are able to collect dense and accurate information from the surface or terrain.aerial lidar Light Distance and Ranging along with airborne laser swath mapping data is quickly becoming one of the hottest tools in the geosciences for studying earth surface.

Albireo’s LiDAR data processing is divided into two steps:

  • Data pre-processing: After the data acquisition it is required to process data for further analysis. In the data pre processing techniques data is filtered for noise. The pre processing computes the collected point coordinates from the independent parameters such as scanner position, orientation parameters, scanner angular deflection, and the laser pulse time. For data pre-processing latitude, longitude and elevation data is required to convert into local referenced coordinate system.

  • Data post-processing: aerial lidarAfter pre-processing LiDAR data is ready for post processing. To derive final products like DEM (Digital Elevation Model), DTM (Digital Terrain Model), TIN (Triangulated Irregular Network) for further analysis post processing is important. For generating these 3D models current aerial photography, imagery, and existing maps are required with high level accuracy which is an inhouse capability of ALbireo as a company.
